Intermittent fasting and the keto lifestyle really go hand in hand with each other. Because being in ketosis naturally suppresses appetite and cravings, most keto advocates also follow some form of intermittent fasting because they can easily skip meals without getting "hangry" (that's hungry and angry at the same time lol).
But, if you're a newbie to keto or maybe you do not want to even follow the lifestyle but you still want to experience the benefits of fasting, then, this post will definitely help you. But before I tell you the recipe, here are just some of the benefits you can experience even with short-term fasts of 12-24 hours:
Improved insulin sensitivity which means your body is able to digest carbs or glucose better (1)
Reduced inflammation (2)
Improved heart health by reducing triglycerides, cholesterol, and blood pressure (3)
Enhanced brain focus and performance (4)
Extend longevity, delay aging (6) and so much more!
Here is the fasting "sweet" tea recipe:
1 cup warm water (not boiling)
1 packet Pique Fasting tea (any flavor, I used Bergamot)
1 packet Keto//OS NAT (any fruity flavor)
1) Mix warm water with tea in a coffee mug.
2) In a shaker bottle, put ice and about 2 oz of cold or room temperature water and add Keto//OS NAT.
3) Pour the tea in the shaker bottle, shake it up to mix and enjoy!
Note: If you don't have Keto//OS NAT, you may add any water flavor enhancers of your choice or use any flavor Ultima Electrolytes for enhanced hydration.
Why this combination works well:
Catechins in tea have been identified to help suppress appetite, increase caloric burn, and induce satiety. Pique tea has been formulated to have the highest catechins content in the world due to their cold brew crystallization process. This means they can extract higher amounts of catechins without destroying them with heat.
The pure therapeutic, naturally fermented ketones in Keto//OS NAT has been found to get you in ketosis within 30 minutes and keep you there for up to 6 hours. This gives you an energy boost and an even more enhanced appetite and cravings suppression.
Fasting or Keto Newbies may start with a 12-hour fast and continuously work your way up to longer fast periods the more your body adapts to it. This can be as simple as skipping breakfast or dinner!
